- As soon as goods are stored abroad, this automatically triggers a VAT registration requirement in the country concerned. Marketplaces such as Amazon already report this information automatically to the German tax office under your tax number.
- If you store or have stored goods abroad without registering, this is a ticking time bomb. Please contact us immediately so that we can initiate the necessary registrations and filings without delay and help you avoid further problems.
In the worst-case scenario, this may result in a tax liability in the relevant EU country, including filing obligations, registration, local tax adviser fees and potentially penalties.
